Unit 1 (Aug. 26 – Oct. 11) Central Idea: Rules and structure help to maintain order and guide responsible choices Key Concepts: Causation, Responsibility, Change Related Concepts: Rules, Routines Lines of Inquiry: · Rules have a purpose · Authority figures help us make and enforce rules Rules can change *Supported by Physical Education Using what your child already knows and loves — books, music, blocks, dolls, dress-up clothes, or other toys — is the easiest, most natural way to expand your child's knowledge about her own family culture, as well as those that are different from hers. It can be as simple as introducing item and garmes from different cultures into your child's play.

Learning about rules is the foundation for become a good citizen! Our planners build upon one another by grade level to help students become leaders and world changers. In first grade students develop the characteristics of a good citizen, and in second, the students explore becoming leaders who take action.
